The holiday season is the perfect time to share a little piece of your heart and a little bit of lavender. Here at Garden Gate Lavender, we love crafting gifts that feel personal, useful, and naturally fragrant. Lavender has always been part of our lives, from the fields where it blooms to the oils, handwashes, and spices we make. This year, I want to show you five easy lavender-based crafts that make wonderful Christmas gifts. These projects are simple, safe, and practical, and they carry the kind of warmth and care that store-bought gifts rarely do.
1. Lavender Fire Starters

Why it works: Cozy, safe, and makes your gift stand out because it’s handcrafted.
Materials:
Dried lavender buds
Egg cartons, paper muffin cups, or silicone molds (makes them uniform)
Wax (old candles, soy wax, or beeswax)
Cotton twine or small wicks
Optional: small ribbon or tag for gifting
Steps:
Cut your egg carton or use silicone molds for uniform shapes.
Fill each section ½–¾ with dried lavender.
Melt wax slowly in a double boiler.
Pour melted wax over the lavender. Leave a little space at the top.
Press a wick or piece of twine in the center. Let cool fully.
Tie a ribbon around each cup or place in a small box for gifting.
For a festive touch, sprinkle a tiny amount of cinnamon or orange peel on top before the wax sets.
2. Lavender Mini Wreaths

Why it works: Small, decorative, fragrant, perfect for hanging anywhere.
Materials:
Small grapevine or wire rings (2–4 inches)
Dried lavender sprigs
Floral wire or thin twine
Ribbon, small bell, or bead (optional)
Steps:
Group 3–5 lavender sprigs and secure them to the ring with floral wire.
Continue layering around the ring until full.
Finish with a ribbon or decorative element at the top for hanging.
For a unique look, mix a few small sprigs of rosemary or tiny dried flowers into the wreath.
3. Lavender Potpourri

Why it works: Scented, colorful, and gift-ready. A glass jar or bottle looks more polished than a small bag.
Materials:
Dried lavender buds
Dried rose petals, orange peel, or cinnamon sticks (optional)
Essential oils (optional, lavender or citrus)
Small glass jars, bottles with corks, or fabric sachets
Steps:
Mix lavender buds with your chosen dried extras.
Add a few drops of essential oil if desired.
Fill jars or bottles with the mixture. For sachets, tie tightly and add a small ribbon.
Decorate the lid with twine, a tag, or a tiny sprig of lavender.
Label each jar with a cute name like “Calm & Cozy”
4. Lavender Incense Sticks

Why it works: Unique, hand-crafted, and functional.
Materials:
Bamboo incense sticks
Dried lavender buds
Makko powder (binds incense)
Water
Optional: small gift box for presentation
Steps:
Crush dried lavender into a fine powder.
Mix with makko powder and just enough water to make a thick paste.
Roll a small amount onto each bamboo stick. Smooth it evenly.
Let sticks dry for 24–48 hours in a ventilated area.
Package in small kraft boxes or wrap in parchment paper for gifting.
Tie 3–5 sticks together with twine and add a small tag with instructions for use.
5. Dried Lavender Bouquets

Why it works: Classic, elegant, and naturally fragrant.
Materials:
Fresh lavender stems
Twine or ribbon
Optional: small decorative paper wrap, vase, or glass bottle
Steps:
Harvest lavender while buds are tight and vibrant.
Group 5–10 stems and tie with twine or ribbon.
Hang upside down in a dry, ventilated space for a few days to fully dry.
Wrap in paper or place in a small vase or jar for gifting.
For a festive touch, tie a small ornament or bell with the ribbon.
